The Festival celebrates and awards the best films from around the world that highlight women’s rights issues and inspire social change. Filmmakers compete for $10,000 in cash prizes, media features, and the opportunity to have their films added to the Women’s Voices Now Film Archive, the “Netflix of feminist films,” for global promotion and viewing.
“The daily acts of courage being carried out by women around the world speaking out against violence against women – of all forms – shows us now, more than ever, the power of women’s voices to effect change. From Hollywood and corporate offices, to schools and individual households, women are refusing to remain silent in the face of inequality, abuse, and worst of all, complacency and indifference. Now is the time to become part of our movement. Now is the time to lead out loud by participating as a filmmaker, as an activist, and as a decent human being.” - Heidi Basch-Harod, Executive Director, Women’s Voices Now
Each year, films are selected from over 174 countries and are viewed by over 150,000 audiences online internationally. The alarming events highlighting the ongoing struggle for women's rights emphasize, more than ever, the dire necessity for the WVN Online Film Festival.
